Happy New Year

An Introduction to the Finn-Brit Society, local branch of Turku:

Paul Whybrow - Chair 2008-2010Well, close to ten years on from the tentative (re)launch of this branch, we have a website presence (and so hearty thanks to those who instigated this, see below):
The fundamental purpose of this organisation as whole is given at the National Federation's website.

But as to our own modest branch represented here, I would like to emphasise its raison d'être (can you do that, have French in a Finn-Brit society?) for me is that it offers the opportunity to bring together both Finns and Brits who have the like minded desire to share aspects of their respective nation's cultures, and then use the associated chance for a good ol' chinwag on those matters between us, which will then serve to increase the camaraderie and mutual respect and understanding between them. And that, I hope, is successfully reflected by the events we have organised for our valued loyal members, and which might be illustrated on the photo gallery to this site.
And from those, overall, you might also discern a delightful fun aspect of that 'cultural' sharing between them, that this society affords; if it looks alluring to you, and you feel you would like to join in the fun and 'cultural education', please sign up for membership for you will be most cordially welcome.

(Respective thanks to Turku local authority for the grant to get this site kick started and then essentially to Juha Vuori for his patience and effort to get it into practise; be assured, it's truly appreciated!)
